Maplewood Health Department Offers Flu Shots

Two clinics will be held in October.

 

The following information is from the Maplewood Health Department:

It is the time of year to think about seasonal illnesses, most importantly influenza or the “flu”. It is a contagious, respiratory illness caused by viruses that infect the nose, throat and lungs that can be mild or severe and at times can lead to pneumonia and death. It is unpredictable and can vary from season to season.

The best way to protect yourself and your family members is to get vaccinated against the flu. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends a yearly flu shot for everyone 6 months of age and older as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu.

The Maplewood Health Department is sponsoring two (2) flu vaccination clinics for adults age 18 and older: Thursday. Oct. 11th, 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Maplewood Town Hall- 574 Valley Street; and Thursday, Oct. 25th, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Maplewood Town Hall-574 Valley St. Medicare Part B will be accepted for seniors, but they must bring their cards. For all others, the cost is $20.00.

Pregnant women must bring a note from their doctors. If you are allergic to eggs, egg proteins, thimerosal or are presently ill, please consult your doctor.
