Maplewood Jitney Returns to Regular Schedule

Jitney was operating under temporary schedule since mid-November.

The Maplewood Jitney has returned to its original, pre-Hurricane Sandy schedule, according to an email alert sent by the Township on Wednesday afternoon.

"(We) went back to the old schedule which is pretty close to New Jersey Transit's schedule," said Eric Burbank, Director of Public Works. "I am sure there are some hiccups but we will have to wait to see what they are."

Midtown Direct has been operating under a somewhat altered schedule since it after being suspended since October 28 shortly before Sandy struck. The township revised the jitney schedules on November 15 in response to the adjusted train schedules.

There have been numerous reports of delays, cancellations and overcrowding on Midtown Direct since service has been restored. The Gladstone Branch remains suspended.
