Did You Lose Power Tuesday Morning?

JCP&L estimates only 21 customers without power, residents saying 250.

Two weeks after superstorm Sandy, almost all power was restored to Millburn Monday evening.  Jersey Central Power and Light website reported only 12 customers remained without power on Monday.  

However, multiple residents reported a power loss at 3 a.m. again this Tuesday morning. 

JCP&L's websites estimates 31 customers are without power as of  6.m. Yet, residents who called were told about 250 homes were affected. 

The company has not responded to the cause or when power will be restored.

JCP&L advised customers to call 1-888-LIGHTSS (888-544-4877) to report their outage again.

The township website tells residents if service was ripped from their home to call an electrician to restore service in their home.

The company reported it restored services to 99 percent of its customers affected by superstorm Sandy and the recent Nor'easter on Sunday. 

"This is part of the storm restoration when it becomes labor intensive because you are replacing poles and wires, while bringing back a small number of customers with each repair," JCP&L official, Mark Nitoski, said.

Since superstorm Sandy hit, Mayor Sandra Haimoff said the power company has been difficult to work with and provided little or incorrect information. She brought the township's complaints to the governor's office twice.

The Short Hills Association praised the mayor for the work she put in over the last two week

Once power fully returns the township will address its issues with JCP&L, Haimoff said.

: (. Whatever they did to bring knoll wood etc back just blew more lines. We really seem to need more modem equipment. Cross our fingers they figure this out tonight.

A class action lawsuit was commenced against Long Island Power Authority. We should consider doing the same with respect to JCP&L. http://www.newsday.com/long-island/class-action-filed-against-lipa-1.4217147

Yes Leslie I heard about this on the radio.. One of the quotes from a litgant went something like " I spent 12 days camping in my home" - sound familiar? Also the COO of LIPA has resigned after it was reported that he spent exactly :30 seconds of the meeting before Sandy planning for the storm. I wonder how long JCP&L spent planning for this storm - I also wonder how long our town council spent discussing it with our business administrator and planning for this storm.
