Since Sandy, Maplewood Library is Booming

With Hurricane Sandy knocking out power in most of Maplewood, the library has become a hotbed for people looking to recharge, get warm, and get out of the house.

Since Hurricane Sandy hit, the Maplewood Memorial Library main branch has been more packed than ever before.

"There was a line out the door this morning," said Teen Librarian Irene Langlois.

Throughout the day on Wednesday, people of all ages were recharging phones and laptops, reading, resting and socializing.

In the afternoon, Mayor Vic DeLuca stopped by to give patrons a "verbal update" on the cleanup efforts throughout town, and on the power restoration situation.

The library will be open again Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
