Taiwanese Delegation Visits Maplewood

Even the rain couldn't stop Maplewood from showing off sustainability initiatives to visitors from Taiwan.

When cabinet level officials from Taiwan (also known as the Republic of China) wanted to study how local municipalities in the U.S. were implementing sustainable "green" initiatives, the U.S. Department of State contacted Sustainable Jersey.

And Sustainable Jersey contacted Maplewood Deputy Mayor for the Environment Fred Profeta.

The result? A delegation of Taiwanese officials came to Maplewood from Manhattan today, boarded the jitney, visited the Maplewood Community Garden at Town Hall, toured the new LEED-certified Maplewood Municipal Court and Police Building on Springfield Avenue and enjoyed lunch at Verjus.
