The sale is final. Petrucci will unveil preliminary plans at an Oct. 6 meeting.

The Township of Maplewood is holding a community meeting at Town Hall on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m., for J.G. Petrucci Co. to present preliminary plans for the redevelopment of the old police station site at 125 Dunnell Road.

The presentation comes on the heels of the formal announcement on Tuesday that .

Preliminary plans were previously on Sept. 14. At that meeting, Petrucci Company representatives presented preliminary plans to construct a four-story building with 50 rental units and parking for 60 cars. De Luca also will be present.

According to a notice released by the town, "This is an informal community meeting and there will be an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback."

Years ago, I had to go to that building for something. As I climbed the steps I was aew-struck at hoe beautiful its interior was. Gold handrails and polished greaming white walls, with tiny black specles set into the ceremic-looking walls, with its tile flooring. It seems ashame to bulldoze such a beatiful all brick building. I have seen nothing made in the last 25 years that could compare to the way this fortress was built.

I agree, it is a shame, it was a beautiful building, although it had been allowed to fall into disrepair. Also, they list the price as $1.75 million, but I believe the town gave back $500,000 for asbestos removal, so the net would be $1.25 million. It would be great if the sale number shown could be the true net, so that everyone has a clear idea of the deal. I am hoping that this is a clear and transparent process, with the Village of Maplewood the primary concern, but the fact that they did not reveal the price until the deal was done makes me wonder.
