Midtown Direct is Back, Miller Stays on X Factor, and MSNBC Comes to Town

1. MSNBC Visits Maplewood Village

Maplewoodians always knew the Village exemplified the spirit of Main Street America. MSNBC's "Your Business" program featured Maplewood in a special Small Business Saturday segment that aired Sunday morning.

2. Beatrice Miller Makes it to Top Ten on THE X FACTOR

Beatrice Miller made it through another round of competition on Thursday night's THE X FACTOR, as two other acts were eliminated on the live show. Miller garnered enough viewer votes after her performance on Wednesday night's show to secure a position as a top ten finalist. She was ranked in 8th place in viewer votes, up two spots from last week.

Scott Greenstone sent an email to James Weinstein, Executive Director of NJ Transit on Monday, Nov. 12 to express his annoyance at the "staff's incompetence" at the South Orange Train Station. Greenstone founded SOMA Commuters (@SOMACommuters) in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, to help commuters "navigate the ever confusing schedules, delays, and issues surrounding the New Jersey Transit and other local commuting options." 

4. UPDATE: Midtown Direct Resumes Regular Service Monday

Beginning Monday, Midtown Direct service is back to a regular schedule. NJT will operate nearly 90 percent of normal peak service.

5. First Night Calls it Quits in 2012

First Night of Maplewood and South Orange will not take place in 2012. The Board of Directors of First Night notified the town administrators that the group "does not have sufficient volunteer resources to enable it to produce a full scale event for December 31, 2012."
