20 School Districts with the Most Bullying Incidents

We’ve compiled the 20 School Districts with the Most Bullying Incidents for the 2012-2013 school year. Not surprisingly, Newark had the most bullying incidents since it has the largest student body in the state. But there are some surprises.

There is no critical analysis about how individual districts report these incidents. A district that is in compliance with all reporting guidelines may have higher numbers than a district with more incidents and less than great reporting.

Furthermore, you provide raw numbers where you should be providing the ratio of incidents to students. Newark, which is as the top of your list, moves to position #20 when you look at Incidents/Students. Prospect Park and Asbury Park are far and away #1 and #2 on the list. Again, this all presumes that the data is accurate. See Allison Anderson's comment above. I encourage the editor of the Patch to show a little more judgment and insight when showing statistics. City Incidents Students Ratio Prospect Park 58 901 6.4% Asbury Park 97 1,926 5.0% Long Branch 103 5,397 1.9% Deptford 76 4,346 1.7% Black Horse Regional 67 3,998 1.7% Morris 76 5,024 1.5% Manalapan-Englishtown 66 5,107 1.3% Winslow Township 60 4,661 1.3% Lakewood 61 5,186 1.2% Gloucester Twp 68 6,929 1.0% Parsippany-Troy Hills 65 7,147 0.9% Plainfield 58 6,390 0.9% Camden 109 12,608 0.9% Passaic 101 13,602 0.7% Hamilton 89 12,114 0.7% Woodbridge 96 13,277 0.7% Brick 62 9,586 0.6% Elizabeth 148 23,988 0.6% Clifton 59 10,949 0.5% Newark 172 34,695 0.5% Jersey City 92 27,028 0.3%
