Clinton Students Will Have School Tomorrow

Still no power, but contingency plans are in place.

The following letter was released by SOMSD late Tuesday night:

Hello Clinton Community,

Find out what's happening in Maplewoodwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

It is so hard to believe and so frustrating that we are still battling with having power returned to our school and some of your homes. Right now, Clinton School remains without power. We are hoping again that it may be restored tonight.

If we do not get power back, our students and staff will have school tomorrow, Wednesday, November 7. After several conversations with district administrators here is our plan:

Find out what's happening in Maplewoodwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

K-2 students will go to Seth Boyden Elementary School, at 274 Boyden Avenue, Maplewood, from 8:20am to 1:20pm.

3-5 students will go to Jefferson Elementary School, at 518 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood, from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

Transportation to new locations

You will need to transport your child to and from these locations.  If you have siblings who will need to be transported to both locations, please drop your K-2 student at Seth Boyden first, and then bring your older child to Jefferson.

If your child usually takes the bus and will be attending Seth Boyden, you will need to transport your child to Seth Boyden yourself.

If your child usually takes the bus and will be attending Jefferson, the morning bus pick-up will be at the regular time. The return bus will depart from Jefferson at 1:30pm, so please estimate that the return trip will take 10-15 minutes longer than usual from the alternate location.

For drop off and pick up at Seth Boyden, please use the front entrance. At Jefferson, please use the entrance doors on Virginia. Students will be greeted at both schools by Clinton staff who will explain the schedule and room assignments for the day.

Food services

Breakfast will not be served. Students can bring a lunch, and there will also be lunch service available for purchase at both schools, and free and reduced price lunch status remains in effect.

As has been suggested in past correspondence, please try to pass this information along to community members that don’t have power in their homes. I am emailing this message and sending it out via robo call in hopes of reaching as many people as possible.

It is my hope that power is restored at Clinton between the time you receive this message and tomorrow morning. If power is restored, you will receive notification in the morning that students should report to Clinton.

If power has not been restored by tomorrow morning, it is important for our students and staff to be engaged in teaching and learning.

Thank you for your continued patience and support. Looking forward to being with our Clinton kids and staff.

Ms. O’Neill

Principal
