The 14th Annual is set for Monday, May 7 at the . This event is the primary fundraiser for the Boosters, which funds scores of extracurricular activities at each year.
In addition to doing good, attendees will have a ton of fun. The event kicks off in the morning with a festive brunch, then it's out to the tees for a day of golfing and socializing. Cap off the evening with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres (with live music from the ), followed by dinner, an auction and a raffle (and awards for best players!)
Golfers can test their skills against a robot. Under the guidance of CHS physics teacher Alan Tumollilo, members of the CHS Robotics Club designed a putting robot that golfers can challenge in a contest (for a donation, of course).
The fee for an individual golfer is $225 and includes golf, cart, brunch and dinner. There were 92 golfers last year, and the organizers would like to top 100 this year.
Since 1994, the Boosters have donated over $220,000 to athletics and extra- curricular activities, including CHS athletic teams, , All School Musical, Quiz-Bowl, Marching Band, Parnassian Society, The Columbian, Velocity Magazine, Anytown, and .
"Last year, we had our best fundraiser ever and in a down economy," said Cougar Booster President Hank Zona. "Unfortunately, that same economy means we are seeing larger and more requests from groups at the school, some that were probably budgeted items in the past."
If you can't attend the entire day, there are several other ways to help:
- Buy a tee sign ($100) or a family sponsor sign ($25)
- Become a corporate sponsor ($1,400 get you golf, brunch and dinner for 4 players, plus a Tee-Sign and 4 raffle tickets)
- Donate a door prize or grand prize
- Sponsor brunch ($500) or dinner ($1,000)
- Skip the golf and come just for dinner ($100)
"Come on out and play," said Golf Chair Al Farah, who organizes the event. "It's going to be fun."
