Maplewoodian: Podcast with Christine Ebersole

Acclaimed singer/actress talks about helping to raise funds to refurbish the CHS auditorium.

Maplewoodian's Joe Strupp has a very entertaining podcast with Tony-award winning singer/actor -- and proud Maplewood resident -- Christine Ebersole on his blog.

Ebersole is the honorary chairperson for the Achieve Foundation's "Take a Seat" Campaign, which Patch wrote about in December. The campaign is seeking to raise funds to completely upgrade the Columbia High School auditorium.

In the podcast, Ebersole said it was "divine intervention" that brought her and her family to Maplewood, and that the town "redefines what family is." Ebersole said that she and her husband have three children adopted from three different countries, and they have always felt welcomed and embraced in Maplewood.

She also talked about her decision to become involved with the Take a Seat campaign, stressing the importance of having a vibrant and rich arts curriculum in schools. Ebersole said the arts are important because they "connect us to ourselves."
