Students Celebrate Columbia HS with Annual Pep Rally

Spirit week ended with a pep rally

On October 26, in the culmination of Columbia High School’s spirit week, the student body attended the annual pep rally, an event preceding the Homecoming dance and football game. School spirit ran high as students gathered in the auditorium, many sporting Columbia High School attire and face paint.

The rally included performances from the marching band, Color Guard, cheerleaders, and several sports teams. The rally was kicked off by the marching band and Color Guard, followed by a choreographed dance performed by the teachers to a medley of music including Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call My Maybe” and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.” The cheerleading team performed to Kesha’s “Your Love Is My Drug,” followed by the volleyball, girls soccer, girls tennis, and football team.

The pep rally exhibited school spirit at its height. It was an illuminating experience for several freshmen, one of who commented that, “I had no idea that people got so enthusiastic about this.” Indeed, the pep rally is a pivotal event in Columbia High School that one junior says “is definitely more fun and meaningful for seniors than everyone else. But for all grades, I think it’s pretty entertaining.”
