Maplewood Holiday Celebration Held on Small Business Saturday

Shop local on Saturday and celebrate the holiday season on Springfield Ave.

The Maplewood Department of Cultural Affairs has announced its first annual Holiday Celebration on Springfield Avenue on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 5 p.m.

This cross-cultural holiday celebration will take place at the Gazebo area near the Hilton Library Branch, 1688 Springfield Avenue, and will feature live music, free refreshments, a visit from Santa and friends, a tree and Menorah lighting, a Kwanza reading and more.

“The Gazebo area provides a festive holiday backdrop and we are excited to begin a new tradition in this location,” said Maplewood Director of Recreation Keith Knudsen. “It’s a great opportunity to celebrate the season with family, neighbors and friends.”

Holiday music selections will be performed by a variety of local musicians including the Maplewood Glee Club, the Maplewood Community Band and and Maplewood’s own Bruno Lee and Friends.

“Springfield Avenue Businesses are delighted to host the Holiday Celebration at the Gazebo,” said Springfield Avenue Partnership Director Julie Doran. “Since the event coincides with Small Business Saturday it seemed an ideal time to kick off the Holiday season on Springfield Avenue with promotions and discounts all day long.”
