yourself into shape? That’s exactly what the Zumba® program is all about. It’s an
exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitnessparty
™ that’s moving millions of people toward joy and health.
WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT AT MY ZUMBA FITNESS CLASS?
 Expect to have fun! There is no need to be quiet when you enter a Zumba class. The
music is loud creating a party atmosphere. Hooting and hollering are always allowed!
 You don’t have to know how to be a good dancer! You won't know all the moves at
your first Zumba class. Focus on the feeling of the rhythms in the music. The more
often you come the quicker you will pick up the steps. Repetition is a key element in
the Zumba formula.
 Dance Like Nobody’s Watching! Zumba class is a judge free zone! Everyone is there
to have fun… to escape their worries and the stresses of the day. Don't worry
about what you look like. It's a class of self-expression, freedom and fun.
 Expect to Sweat! Zumba is a fitness class first. You'll burn an estimated 500 to
1000 calories at an hour class. Sweating is a result of you dancing your heart out!
 You'll be tired happy, and looking forward to your next Zumba class!
WHAT ARE THE BEST SHOES TO WEAR IN A ZUMBA® CLASS? Zumba Fitness
recommends that you wear "cross training" or "aerobic" style shoes. They provide the
cushion and medial lateral support needed for side-to-side movements. They also have low
traction rubber for easy sliding and turning. Please be careful with "running shoes" since
they use a heavy tread on the bottom and are designed for forward movement. The type
of shoe is key for easy-flowing movement, so you should wear good supportive shoes such
as cross-trainers, or dance-specific sneakers. Wear shoes that do not have a lot of tread
at the bottom and are meant for medial/lateral/twisting motion.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING OR WEAR TO A ZUMBA FITNESS CLASS? Generally, you
should bring a towel, water, a healthy post workout snack and bring your smile!
