Library Hosting Summer Concert

Teen rock band "8 Bit" will be performing at the Hilton Branch of the library on Wednesday.

The Hilton Branch of the Maplewood Library will be hosting an evening of free music, food and fun.

On Wednesday at 7 p.m., the band 8 Bit will be performing. The library is located at 1688 Springfield Ave.

The band features Columbia High School students:  Sam Gomberg on drums, Jack Goldberg on bass, Simon Pettigrew on guitar and Lara Phillips on vocals.

The band that has been together for 1 1/2 years and its members are excited to play at the library, "It’s actually kinda difficult putting a show in the library,” said Lara Phillips, “It’s a bit contradictory.”

However, despite it being quite “different” according to Phillips, she claims it may be a “cool new thing to try out” and that the band might bring a little “punk rock,” to the venue.

The band members say they consider themselves Indie Rock say they are also influenced by The White Stripes, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys. “We’re a new sound,” said Phillips, “We just want people to enjoy us as much as possible.”

8 Bit will be playing original songs as well as indie/alternative covers.
