Local professional organizer Diane Thomson of Creative Organizing, LLC and the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) partnered with Soles4Souls on a shoe collection challenge. Thomson coordinated the collection for the local chapter, which collected an incredible 22,844 pairs of shoes (that’s 45,688 shoes, and she has been awarded a trip to Haiti, where she will distribute shoes.
In addition to winning the trip the Haiti, Diane was recognized by the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce. Thomson won the 2012 Mover & Shaker Award.
But what is Soles4Souls all about?
It's an eco-friendly opportunity to help people in need while saving the environment.
What could be better?
Soles4Souls collects, distributes and recycles new or gently worn shoes to those without shoes in 127 countries around the world, including the U.S.
"I feel I have just hit the tip of the iceberg and know there are many more unwanted shoes taking up closet space that could be put to good use," said Thomson last year. She asked friends and colleagues to spread the word, and so they did.
Congratulations to Diane Thomson, who heads to Haiti in August!
