Board of Ed Forum Q&A in the Week Ahead

Here's what's going on this week in Maplewood and South Orange.

The Hilton Neighborhood Association held a public forum for the four candidates seeking a term on the South Orange and Maplewood Board of Education.

Each of the four candidates had an opportunity to answer five questions posed to them by the Hilton Neighborhood Association.

Monday, Sept. 23 will kick off Maplewood Loves Wellness Week, which includes free daily classes and seminars designed to educate Maplewood residents about healthy living. A full schedule is available here.

The Maplewood Township Committee, which recently discussed raising the Jitney fees will not meet again until Tuesday, Oct. 1.

It''s a busy week in South Orange this week, with meetings scheduled Monday through Friday.

The South Orange Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23 at Village Hall for a formal presentation on the Affordable Healthcare Act, also known as Obamacare.

The regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting will be pushed back and will convene at 8 p.m. at Village Hall. During the last BOT meeting, the governing body worked to resolve a parking issue between Tuxedo Park residents and Seton Hall University.

The Board is discussing the possibility of imposing parking restrictions in the Tuxedo Park area.

South Orange Committee Meetings include:

  • Public Safety, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Village Hall
  • University Engagement, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Village Hall
  • Recreation & Cultural Affairs, 9 a.m. Thursday at the Baird Center.
  • Public Information and Marketing Committee, 7 p.m. Thursday at Village Hall.
