I began taking classes at Maplewood Karate after hearing a lot of buzz among friends and on-line with the purpose of getting in shape (well, another shape besides round) and losing weight. Six weeks in and I feel stronger, have better balance and am seeing a noticeable difference in my body shape, all while losing almost 15 pounds. Louis and Tami are both excellent instructors who may the classes fun while challenging students through a variety of techniques. I really enjoy the camaraderie among my fellow students and the fun environment that makes me want to attend as many sessions as I can.

My son, daughter, and I all take classes. We all love it. We go together, and I do the adult program as well. It's hard fun, and every session has been fantastic. Louis is great with ALL of the kids (some with natural focus and some who are getting focus from karate). We feel lucky to have the dojo in our town. Highly recommend for kids and adults.

Get yourself over there if you haven't already and take one of Louis's Kickboxing classes. The hour goes by before you know it but you'll be sweating and having fun and will come back for more. No pressure just fun, strengthening and a great time. The amazing Tami Thetford teaches the am class and she's as pretty as she is Fierce! :) Check it out!
Our son takes karate classes here, having moved over from another instructor and discipline. He felt welcome very quickly, and has advanced well. We like Louis's balance of pushing the kids to go beyond what they think they can do and praising them for their accomplishments. We also like that our son now has the chance to assist with younger classes - a great way to reinforce his basics and be a teacher/leader/role model.
I take the kickboxing classes. I lost a bit of weigh on my own, but the impact really came when I started the classes. Flatter stomach, arms with shape, and feeling more energetic! The schedule flexibility is outstanding for a working parent.
I’m very please to announce that all the Tuscan Enrichment program children who took the Maplewood Karate Blue stripe black stripe program passes with flying colors today, they learned to give back to the community via donating canned goods to the local food pantry’s, earning their blue strip, and earned a black strip for all the skills they acquired in the last six weeks, congratulations, I had a great time teaching a bunch of great kids.
My son, Jordon, takes this class, and he gets the discipline that he needs. He is also learning about cooperation.
Louis Toledo, who runs this program, is amazing. He devotes so much of his time to the kids. I often watch my son in the class. Louis really cares about all of the kids he teaches. He knows how to praise them, and to work with them.
We are lucky that he gives so much of his time to our kids.
My daughter loves this program. All the kids and even adults there seem to really enjoy themselves. The instructors are great, they come up with innovative ways to keep it interesting and fun for all the students. It's great watching the students and see how far they have all come along, and how the instructors take great care with the students. We are lucky to have Maplewood Karate Club.

Would have never imagined I'd be kickboxing but I've been doing it for a year now and love everything about it. Louis is a great guy and an excellent instructor and the classes never get boring. Stress-releasing, empowering, and fun, kickboxing at Maplewood Karate rocks!
