Seth Boyden Elementary School
973-378-5209
Seth Boyden draws students from both South Orange and Maplewood. It follows a teaching philosophy called multiple intelligence, which can be boiled down to the idea that people can be intelligent in different ways. In addition to the core curriculum, students are presented with lessons that include music, puppetry and the arts.
The school also offers an elective program called Strawberry Fields, an environmental-based teaching strategy that brings students outdoors to learn about nature. Strawberry Fields will be featured in an upcoming PBS special. Seth Boyden is no stranger to media attention, as their recess knitting club was featured in the New York Times in 2003.
