  • In Maplewood, licenses for dogs and cats are handled by the Health Department, and need to be renewed annually.

DOGS

  • New Jersey law and township ordinance require dog owners to license any dog at least seven months old by the end of January.
  • Dogs that are over seven months old or have a full set of teeth require licenses. Dog licenses are $18.

CATS

  • Licenses for spayed and neutered cats cost $15. Cats that aren’t spayed or neutered cost $18.

BIRDS

  • Keeping loud, squawky birds as pets violates the town’s noise ordinances.
