Kohl Douglas Angelo will be remembered on Saturday, August 4 with a funeral and a private burial ceremony. The 12-year-old Maplewood boy died on July 24 after a long battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church, 561 Springfield Avenue, Summit, NJ. According to his obituary, Kohl was a Maplewood Middle School student, a striker for the Cougar Soccer Club travel team, an accomplished viola and piano player, and an avid Xbox player. Kohl loved classical music, especially Mozart, the band Coldplay, the color yellow, and his naughty dog, Haley. On Tuesday morning, 12-year-old Kohl Angelo -- Maplewood Middle School student, soccer player, brother to Austin and Branden, son to Kelly and Peter -- passed away after a long battle with cancer, according to a representative from the HK Community Fund. Kohl was diagnosed last winter with a rare brain tumor, D.I.P.G. or Diffuse Intrinsic Pons Glioma. He had been receiving treatment at St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN and more recently, at NYU Cancer Institute. The Maplewood and South Orange communities rallied around the Angelo family, hosting Kick it Kohl fundraisers, art auctions, bakesales and other events. Long Live Kohl RIP even i talk to him for a while he was a great guy a great heart. He was a talented soccer player along with his brothers Branden & Austin. Pollitt was devoted to Maplewood, returning for Glee Club performances regularly even though he relocated to CT decades ago.
Long-time residents of Maplewood were saddened Wednesday to hear the news of Wesley Pollitt's death on June 13. Pollitt, 93, had been a leader in Maplewood decades ago, before relocating to Connecticut. Maplewood Township Clerk Liz Fritzen sent an email to department heads and Township Committee members on Wednesday informing them of Pollitt's passing. Fritzen noted that Pollitt was a former Maplewood resident, a graduate of Columbia High School and a Maplewood Township Committeeman who served three consecutive three-year terms from 1961 through 1970. Pollitt raised four daughters in Maplewood with his wife Edith McGann Pollitt. He served on the board of Morrow Memorial Methodist Church. Pollitt was also a founder of the Maplewood Glee …

Dick Clark, who brought rock and roll to the masses as the longtime host of "American Bandstand," is dead after suffering a heart attack, according to several news reports. The always smiling 82-year-old TV producer and host had been at St. John's Hospital in Los Angeles after undergoing an outpatient procedure on Tuesday, according to TMZ. Clark reportedly suffered the heart attack following the procedure and died on Wednesday after failed attempts to resuscitate him. The Mount Vernon, New York-born Clark endured a long list of health troubles over the years and had a stroke in 2004 that caused him to retire as host of "New Years' Rockin' Eve," the show he created in 1972. Friends and family will remember McCombs at the Orange United Methodist Church.
Friends, colleagues and students who want to remember CHS health and physical education teacher Mark McCombs are invited to his homegoing service to be held this Sunday, April 1, at the Orange United Methodist Church, 281 Park Avenue (Corner of Park Avenue & N. Day Street) in Orange, NJ. McCombs died suddenly earlier this week after a brief illness. He leaves behind a wife and four children.
