Luke's Kitchen is a classy bistro in downtown Maplewood that has been on many critics "Best of" lists since openingMore in the fall of 2007. Named after chef/owner Rod Hernandez's son, Luke's is fundamentally French, but as Hernandez says, "Our influences come from everywhere."

A recent prix fixe menu ($38) offered an onion tart, goat cheese and candied cashew salad, chicken confit, roasted shrimp and black pepper, or butternut squash soup for appetizers; roasted half chicken, pork chop Oaxaca or seafood with shrimp noodles as entrees; plus a choice of peach panna cotta or home-made ice cream (Tahitian vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon white pepper, lavender or coffee). Luke's also sells infused oils, vinaigrettes, moles and spice mixes.

The menu changes regularly depending on the availability of fresh ingredients. The space is relatively small, with 16 tables, so reservations are a necessity, particularly on weekends.
