Armed Robbery on Irvington Ave.

Robber made off with a cell phone and a bag of fast food.

Maplewood police say that two juveniles were robbed at gunpoint near the Newark border on Sunday, Sept. 27. The armed robber reportedly stole money, a cell phone and the victims' fast food purchase. Shortly after 8:30 p.m., the two juveniles were walking on Essex Avenue following a stop at a fast food restaurant in Newark's Ivy Hill Plaza. According to a police report, they were approached by a man holding a silver handgun who reportedly told the youths to "run [their] pockets." The man took an LG view cell phone, $23 and a bag of fast food from the victims before fleeing in a two-door sports car.

Police Report Armed Robbery Over Weekend

An East Orange man says he was robbed by two teens near the Irvington border.

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery near the Irvington border on Saturday night. No arrests were made in the incident. At approximately 10:35 p.m. Saturday, police responded on a report of an armed robbery to the area of Essex Avenue and South 4th St. A 37-year-old East Orange man told police he had been approached by two black male teenagers. One of the teens reportedly had a silver handgun. They demanded money from the victim, who was not injured in the incident, and fled. The two suspects wore either bandanas or rags over their faces. One is described as thin, 5’7” and between 15 and 17 years old. He was reportedly wearing a short-sleeved white t-shirt and jeans. The second suspect was also described as thin and between 15 …
