Maplewood Library celebrates Black History Month with a reception for our February artists.
BHM Art and Music Reception Join us on Saturday, Feb. 16th for a reception with live music to celebrate our Black History Month art exhibits. (This program was rescheduled due to last week's storm.) Cathleen McCoy Bristol creates portraits, landscapes and spiritual works in watercolor and acrylic. She has always been fascinated by variations in the human race, which has led her to explore diverse expressions of tradition and to portray the beauty of all peoples. She is a former art instructor, has freelanced as a fashion illustrator and painter, and shows her work in local galleries. Objects, to Ahmondylla Best, tell stories. Art and Music Reception Maplewood Library is happy to be featuring the outstanding art of two Maplewood residents this month. On our walls are Paul Gibson's photographs. Harnessing principles of lighting, composition, contrast, and dynamic movement honed in his 30 year career in film & video, Paul peers into the breathtaking beauty of nature to create images that have been variously described as “painterly,” "dreamy," "ethereal," "serene," - images which are a uniquely personal artistic vision.
