"Take a Seat" Gala to Boost CHS Auditorium Renovation

Achieve Foundation, CHS Alumni Assoc. will honor citizen extraordinaire Fred Profeta on April 20 at Orange Lawn.

  The Achieve Foundation and the Columbia High School Alumni Association are teaming up to host "A Standing Ovation for Fred Profeta," a gala evening celebrating the contributions of one of the community's leading citizens and champions, on Saturday, April 20 at Orange Lawn Country Club in South Orange. The event will honor longtime Maplewood resident and former Mayor Fred Profeta and will help fund the Take a Seat (TAS) Campaign, a joint effort of Achieve and the South Orange - Maplewood School District (SOMSD) to restore the historic Columbia High School (CHS) auditorium to its former splendor. The $1.3 million project will upgrade features of the 85-year old performance hall including its seats, sound system, lighting and flooring. The …

Donate to "Take a Seat" at CHS this Holiday Season

Achieve Foundation is raising funds to renovate the Columbia High School auditorium to its former glory.

  Still looking for a holiday gift? Here’s something that is local, meaningful and will impact generations of South Orange - Maplewood students for years to come.   Since 2010, the Achieve Foundation has been partnering with the South Orange -Maplewood School District (SOMSD) in the Take a Seat (TAS) campaign to renovate the Columbia High School (CHS) auditorium. Donors can choose to honor or dedicate a seat to someone – a teacher, family member, coach, principal, graduate, or a group or organization -- to contribute to the fundraising effort.  The $1.3 million project will upgrade features of the 85-year-old performance hall while restoring it to its former splendor, according to Achieve.
