Coach Allan Tumolillo, CHS Robotics Team Are Honored

South Orange trustees will recognize Columbia HS robotics

The South Orange Board of Trustees will recognize the entired Columbia High School Robotics team, led by teacher - coach Allan Tumolillo, as January's Villagers of the Month. The high school Robotics team is now in its third academic year under the leadership of physics teacher "Mr. T." The high school team, which has garnered numerous awards, has also inspired countless local elementary and middle school students to give robotics a try. The January regular meeting of the Board of Trustees is schedule for January 28, 2013, at 8 p.m. in Village Hall.

Local team was on hand for special day at Maplewood Memorial Library

  The Columbia High School Robotics Club displayed some of their latest creations at Star Wars Reads Day at the Maplewood Memorial Library on Saturday, Oct. 6. There were activities, demos and workshops for the whole family, including crafts, a Lego Build-a-Thon, a Star Wars bookstore presented by Words Bookstore, Light Saber Workshops with the Padawan Training Academy, trivia contest and prizes.

Interested in Robotics? This Meeting is for You

District-wide meeting is tonight for students of all ages; see CHS robots in action.

Columbia High School's Robotics Team has only been in existence for a couple of years, but it has already earned state championship titles from both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  Tonight, at 7 p.m. in the CHS Cafeteria, the Robotics Club will host a district-wide meeting for students of all ages who are interested in learning more about the district's robotics program.  CHS has established teams in the middle and elementary schools, and the high school is considering adding a robotics class for the 2013-14 school year, according to Allan Tumolillo, CHS Science teacher and advisor to the team. The course would teach the basics of computer programming, to give students an idea of the types of programming they would be using if they pursued a…
