Two Brothers Arrested in Marijuana Investigation

Police reportedly found drugs and paraphernalia.

Maplewood police arrested two brothers on charges of marijuana possession following a search of their home after a month-long investigation. At about 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, Maplewood police executed a search warrant at the Franlkin Avenue home of 18-year-old Daniel Exantus and his 20-year-old brother Juvens Exantus. The Essex County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit assisted in the search. Inside the home, police reportedly found under 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and the Exantus brothers were charged for possession. Four additional people were detained and then released by police after police checked for warrants and contraband. Maplewood Man Arrested on Marijuana Charges in South Orange

South Orange Police reportedly saw the drug in the man's car.

A driver—later identified as Dave Eliassaint, 21, of Maplewood—was stopped for failing to observe a traffic signal at South Orange Avenue. and Scotland Road shortly before 11 p.m. Police say a clear ziplock bag containing green vegetation that appeared to be marijuana was spotted in the driver side cup holder, and Eliassaint was placed under arrest by Officers Sally Reaves and John Niedzinski and taken to headquarters for processing. A subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly turned up a large clear ziplock bag of marijuana in a backpack, which also contained a large number of smaller ziplock bags, two packages of black bags, one package of clear bags and a scale.
