Man Involved in St. James's Gate Case Asks for Apology

Kresofsky appeared in court Thursday morning; trial date to be set.

Ethan Kresofsky, the 24-year-old South Orange man who accused a St. James's Gate bartender of assault in January, appeared before a judge in Bloomfield Municipal Court Thursday morning to respond to the bartender's counter-claim of assault against him. Kresofsky, accompanied by his mother, Eva and his father, Robert, was advised of the charges against him, which include spitting at and biting 30-year-old bartender James Meade. Bloomfield Chief Municipal Magistrate Judge John A. Paparazzo advised Kresofsky to have his attorney -- who was not present -- send a letter to the court to enter a plea and to speak to Meade's attorney to coordinate a date for the trial. Eva Kresofsky later told Patch that her son would plead not guilty to the …

Judge Finds Probable Cause in St. James's Gate Assault Case

Judge decides Maplewood bartender's complaint should move forward.

A municipal court judge ruled a complaint filed by a bartender of a popular Maplewood pub accusing a South Orange resident of assault should move forward. Bloomfield Chief Municipal Magistrate Judge John A. Paparazzo found probable cause after hearing testimony Thursday morning from 30-year-old West Orange resident James Meade, a bartender at St. James's Gate Publick House, accusing 24-year-old Ethan Kresofsky of assault. At Thursday's hearing, Meade testified in connection with a Jan. 8 incident at the bar that turned violent.  Last month, Paparazzo found probable cause to move forward with a complaint Kresofsky filed against Meade, alleging he was assaulted by the bartender. On Thursday, Meade said Kresofsky was "intoxicated" and that …

I believe i misstated the realtionship of the bartender to the owner. The judge's son is the one accused of the assault against the patron. Its not the bartenders son. Can someone verify this? Accuracy is what matters/even on an opinion blog.   more ›

St James's Gate Bartender Files Assault Complaint

Bartender, accused of assault in January, files a counter complaint against his accuser.

James Meade, the St. James's Gate Publick House bartender accused of assaulting a patron in an altercation at the bar in early January, has filed his own complaint against the patron. According to documents released by a public relations firm retained by the family, Meade has accused Ethan Kresofsky, a 24-year-old South Orange resident, of assault by "attempting to cause bodily injury...by spitting in (Meade's) face and then biting his right index finger after re-entering St. James Gate Publick House after 'last call.'" Robert D. Kuttner, a Millburn attorney retained by Meade, confirmed that a probable cause hearing to determine if Meade's complaint will move forward will be held in the Bloomfield Municipal Court on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 8…

Judge: Complaint Against St. James Gate Bartender Should Move Forward

A judge ruled on Thursday the citizen's complaint against James Meade has probable cause.

A Bloomfield municipal court judge ruled a complaint accusing a Maplewood bartender of assaulting a patron should move forward.  Chief Municipal Magistrate Judge John A. Paparazzo found probable cause Thursday after hearing testimony from 24-year-old South Orange resident, Ethan Kresofsky, accusing St. James’s Gate Publick House's bartender, James Meade, of assault. Kresofsky testified in connection with a Jan. 8 incident in which he asked Meade for a drink at about 1:40 a.m. and Meade allegedly said no. When asked why, Kresofsky told the judge Meade made a homophobic slur aimed at him. The verbal altercation soon turned violent, Kresofsky said.  "He was noticeably intoxicated," Kresofsky said. The two began shoving and grabbing. …

Go to Highland Place, on Highland Place around the corner. It's what Maplewood Village always was and should be......a polished, respectable town. We saw the reconstruction of Highland Place and could see how much work was done to it. We use to go there when we worked at NJTransit and it was the Winolear. I was there on Sunday, February 17, around 9 PM since it was the beginning of my vacation. …   more ›
