Maplewood Township Committee will vote on resolution at Tuesday meeting; township will explore purchase of two other generators.
The Maplewood Township Committee will vote Tuesday night on a resolution to purchase a new generator for DeHart Center, according to Township Administrator Joseph Manning. The generator, a Caterpillar Emergency Generator described in resolution 27-13 (part three of the agenda attached as a PDF to this article), will cost $37,877 to purchase. Installation and maintenance are not included in that figure. The township will purchase the generator as part of the National Joint Power Alliance (NJPA), of which it is a member. The township has been discussing the addition of a generator to the DeHart Center, which is used as a shelter in times of emergency, since Hurricane Irene. Residents from JESPY House learn how to make salsa from fresh vegetables.
Residents from JESPY House who have been maintaining two plots at the South Orange Elks Rent Pary Community Garden were recently treated to a salsa-making demonstration from local resident Gareth Jones. The volunteers have been working in the garden under the supervision of garden coordinator Irene Dunsavage. Jones, assisted by his wife, Liz, made salsas representing the flavors of India, Mexico and Greece. The JESPY residents got to sample the salsas and brought back the finished products to the house to share with other residents. Maplewood's Deputy Mayor Kathy Leventhal also took part in the event. The residents have been visiting the site on Mondays and Thursdays to harvest produce for local food pantries. The garden is being funded…

Kings Food Markets (Kings) presented Maplewood Community Garden representatives with a check for $3,500 on Monday. The check represents a portion of Kings' $25,000 Act Against Hunger Fund. The garden will use the funds to provide garden-fresh food to local food banks in Essex County. Kings' volunteers from the Maplewood, Livingston, and Short Hills locations were also on-site to help harvest fruit and vegetables for donation to local families.

called the town about ixing my street and putting wheel chair curbs in and fixing our street lights they told me it was not in budget . but all the town council people are getting their streets fixed how nice, god bless america. still waiting on call back been 6 months   more ›
