A Township Committee Meeting Filled with "Pride"
Police officers are promoted and LGBT Pride Month is proclaimed to a full house at tonight's meeting. Plus, info on an upcoming townwide property reassessment.
Tonight's Township Committee meeting was a bit more packed than usual, as Town Hall was filled with proud family, friends and supporters there to witness two events. (There were also an inordinate number of police cars in the parking lot.) The first happy event was Mayor Vic DeLuca proclaiming June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month in Maplewood -- the third such time he has made the designation -- to great applause from the audience. CJ Prince, co-founder of SOMA Pride, thanked the Mayor and reminded audience members about this weekend's upcoming SOMA Pride Festival, which will take place on Saturday, June 9 from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. in Memorial Park.
