Assembly Members to NJ Transit: Help SOMA

McKeon and Jasey want expanded bus service, jitneys to NYC.

  The following news release was sent by the office of Assembly members John McKeon and Mila Jasey (both D-Essex/Morris). Assembly members John McKeon and Mila Jasey (both D-Essex/Morris) are working with residents and NJ Transit on solutions to ease the crippling transportation situation for Manhattan-bound commuters in the 27th legislative district. Please pressure NJ Transit to inform the public about what is being done to repair the Morris-Essex Line. Are trees being cut? Are they waiting for water to recede? Are they waiting for lines to thaw. Are wires being removed? Replaced? How can they be allowed to remain silent on the progress, or lack thereof, being made? It is critical for people to get into NYC to make their livings.   more ›

Jasey Opens Office in Maplewood

The assemblywoman's office in District 27 is in business.

Assemblywoman Mila M. Jasey celebrated the official opening of her office at 511 Valley Street in Maplewood last week. Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca helped cut the ribbon, alongside Committeewoman India Larrier, Committeeman Jerry Ryan, South Orange Village President Alex Torpey, Freeholder Pat Sebold and a few of Jasey's friends from the State Assembly. Jasey served on the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education froom 1999 to 2007, and she has served in the state legislator ever since. There, she served on the Housing and Local Government Committees and is Vice-Chair of the Education Committee. Mila Jasey Opens Valley Street Office

Assemblywoman Jasey has a new local office

Assemblywoman Mila M. Jasey (Morris & Essex Counties) celebrated the official grand opening of her new District Office at 511 Valley Street, Maplewood, with Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca cutting the ribbon on June 27th.  Village President Alex Torpey attended the ceremony, as well. Finding Homeless Families in Essex County a Home of Their Own

The Interfaith Hospitality Network's annual breakfast raises funds for homeless families in the county.

The Interfaith Hospitality Newtork (IHN) of Essex County held its annual fundraising breakfast on Thursday at Mayfair Farms in West Orange. IHN helps families, parents and children in Essex County that have lost their homes by giving them food and shelter as well as addressing the issues that had lead to the family's homelessness. Local houses of worship, such as Prospect Presbyterian and St. George's in Maplewood and Our Lady of Sorrows in South Orange, are part of IHN's network. Over 300 individuals came to the breakfast to hear about what IHN had accomplished in the past year and were asked to help support the continued success of the program.
