Two Maplewood Men Charged in South Orange Burglary
Witness tells police suspects fled from home carry a backpack loaded with computers and jewelry.
Two Maplewood men have been arrested and charged with burglary in South Orange, in a joint operation involving South Orange, Orange, and Maplewood police. According to the South Orange police, Raynald Laurent and Kyree Smith, both 18, were arrested on Dec. 17, at approximately 2:40 p.m. after a Fielding Court resident came home and discovered her rear glass door had been smashed and the house was broken in to. When South Orange police responded, a witness told police he had seen two men running from the front door of the burglarized home carrying a backpack. Officers saw the men and pursued them through several backyards before apprehending them. The two suspects were carrying jewelry, two laptops and cash belonging to the homeowner.
