Valentine's Day Bouquet of the Day: Jerry Rose Florists

Profess your love with a riot of roses and tulips.

"The abundance in this arrangement is beautiful," said Jerry Rose, owner of the eponymously named florist on Maplewood Avenue. "I call it 'The Abundance of Love.'" Consisting of a collection of roses, including standard roses and spray roses, and two shades of tulips (red and apricot), the arrangement is classic enough to send to your mother -- with just enough heat to satisfy your spouse. Rose said that for Valentine's Day, "people want pretty. I think they just want beautiful arrangements." This one more than fits the bill. There's still time to place your Valentine's Day order. Jerry Rose Florist, 176 Maplewood Ave, Maplewood (973) 762-1085.

Valentine's Day, SOMA-Style

There's still time to figure out plans for the big day, from concerts to chocolate, diamonds to dinner.

Here are some ideas for celebrating Valentine's Day -- Thursday, Feb. 14 --  in Maplewood and South Orange.

Valentine's Day Bouquet of the Day: Lotus Petals

This favorite Maplewood florist presents a luscious, lusty arrangement that is sure to make your intentions clear.

Maplewood Patch asked several local florists to create their idea of a quintessential Valentine's Day floral arrangement. Here is what Lotus Petal Floral Design came up with. "Deep pink hydrangeas are the basis for this lovely change from traditional reds," said owner Peggy Excell-Stone. "Pink orchids and roses with white roses and chartreuse berry accents complete the compact romantic piece." Excell-Stone and staff are gearing up for the week, an extremely busy one for local florists. Stay tuned for more Valentine's Day gift ideas this week on Patch. Lotus Petals Floral Design, 92 Baker Street, Maplewood, (973) 762-3525, Petalsdesign.com.
