Where will you eat your burger today?
From the sheer number of burger chains in this country, it's not hard to tell that Americans love cheeseburgers. Whether covered with cheddar, smothered in Swiss or sprinkled with bleu, the cheese is an important part of the burger for plenty of people. There are plenty of places to get a great burger in Maplewood; check out our list at the end of this article. Maplewood gourmet shop will morph into clothing store; set to open early September.
The short but sweet life of Sweet Relish, the gourmet store Mary Vayas opened in Maplewood Village this spring, has come to an end. That's the bad news. The good news is that Vayas will soon open a clothing and accessories store in the same space (163 Maplewood Avenue) called "Olive & Lizzy." The shop will offer clothes, bags, jewelry, scarves and shoes, as well as some beauty products. It will feature such brands as Free People and Lucky Brand. "It's for the 'chic fashionista'," said Vayas. "The style will be very girly." Sweet Relish launched only three months ago, but Vayas said she knew the concept wasn't working the way she had planned. This Friday and Saturday, the Village hosts its annual Sidewalk Sale.
Maplewood Village will be the scene of a two-day Summer Sidewalk Sale today and tomorrow, beginning at 10 a.m. A host of shops and restaurants will offer special deals and delicious food. Be sure to stop by to score some deals on clothing, gifts, wine and food. Just a few examples: Freeman's Fish Market will be serving their succulent lobster rolls outside, Village Burger will be selling BBQ on the sidewalk, and Words Bookstore will have a cart of bargain books outside both days of the sale. It is also a perfect opportunity to go Waldo hunting. Michael not sure when you were on Springfield Ave last but they have done a lot of work to make it not look like "a dump" as you put it. It's NEVER going to be the village but it's much better now.   more ›
