Zimiles will discuss Marketplace Fairness Act on 'Your Business' show Sunday.
Jonah Zimiles, owner of Words Bookstore in Maplewood, is scheduled to appear as a guest on MSNBC’s television show, "Your Business," to be broadcast on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. Host J.J. Ramberg will ask Zimiles about the Marketplace Fairness Act, which has passed the U.S. Senate and is currently pending before the House of Representatives. According to Zimiles, the bill will enhance tax fairness by leveling the playing field between online retailers and brick and mortar stores regarding the collection of sales tax, and provide funds desperately needed by states and municipalities. Last year, Zimiles traveled to Washington to speak with Senator Robert Menendez’s staff about the bill, which Menendez later voted in favor of.

Maplewood store triumphs in window display contest.
Khaled Hosseini, author of the acclaimed novels The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, is coming to Maplewood. Words Bookstore is the winner of a nationwide window display competition to win a visit by Hosseini, according to a post on the author's Facebook page. Hosseini will visit the bookstore this fall for a special event to promote his new book, And the Mountains Echoed. Maplewood's Words Bookstore is one of five finalists in a nationwide window display competition to win a visit by Khaled Hosseini, acclaimed author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Voting is open to the public; information on how to vote is at the end of this article. The store was selected by Penguin Publishers in New York City as one of the top five bookstores in the country for their window display featuring Hosseini's works. World Book Night is an annual, global campaign to give away thousands of free books to encourage non-readers to read. Held this year on April 23, the event will mobilize 25,000 volunteers in more than 6,000 towns and cities nationwide to distribute half a million free books. Volunteer book lovers help promote reading by going out into their communities and sharing free copies of books they love. The mission of World Book Night is to seek out those without the means or access to printed books. Adoption specialist is guest speaker at Adoptive Parents Committee meeting Sunday at Words Bookstore.
Adoption expert and Maplewood resident Dr. Jane Aronson will be addressing specific issues and concerns that adopted children face in school at Words Bookstore on Sunday, March 10 at 6 p.m. The event is part of a special meeting of the Adoptive Parents Committee New Jersey Chapter.
