Puppy Love Spa Has Grand Opening at New Location

The popular doggie day spa moved to spacious new digs on Springfield Avenue.

  Mayor Vic DeLuca, Deputy Mayor Kathleen Leventhal, Township Committeeman Marlon K. Brownlee and Township Administrator Joseph Manning helped cut the ribbon at the new location for Puppy Love, the dog day care and grooming "spa." The new location is 1835 Springfield Avenue; 973.761.0330.

Puppy Love "Angel" Rescues Lost Dog

Thanks to the kindness of a Maplewood stranger, a West Orange dog finds his way home for the holidays.

This is a lost dog story with a happy ending. On Thanksgiving Day, Smoochy, a ten-year-old Shih Tzu who belongs to the Ritter family in West Orange, escaped from his yard and ran away. "When I finally noticed we panicked and went searching around the neighborhood," said Pree Ritter. "A man told me two women had pulled up and asked around if this was anyone's dog and instead of leaving him to wander the streets, they decided to take him in." In the meantime, the heartbroken family called local police stations, visited all the shelters in Essex County and notified all vets but could not find him. They also posted a notice on Craigslist. Synergy on Springfield Avenue

Here's what's in store this fall on "the Avenue" in Maplewood.

This fall, five Springfield Avenue businesses will unite to present a new children’s enrichment program combining music, art, imaginative play and physical activity.   It’s a perfect example of the kind of business synergy that has become a signature of the Avenue since Maplewood Township launched an ambitious revitalization initiative a decade ago. “We didn't have to look far to get great enrichment programs within a block from our store,” said Susan Donlan, owner of Parteaz.   The two-hour drop off program, for 2-5 year olds, will run daily from 9:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. “Judie from Shakti will teach toddler yoga and Senali from East Side Fitness will teach toddler Zumba,” said Donlan. “Music and More with Kelly will provide music and …
