Event will feature nature tours and cleanup of the Rahway River.
South Orange River Day is Sunday, and the event offers a wide variety of environment and nature-related activities and attractions. The event will take place 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 6 at and around the Skate House on Mead Street. The goal is to continue raising public awareness about the Rahway River and to educate the public about the environment, said James McGowan, chairman of South Orange River Day and member of the South Orange Environmental Commission. "It's another opportunity to celebrate this beautiful watershed we're in, educate people about it and participate in cleaning it up," McGowan said.
