• Bio: New Jersey native and Springfield Patch editor Adam Bulger is a journalist who has written extensively for print and online publications. He has written for Forbes, the Believer, Premiere.com, New York Press and other publications. His interview with Hunter Thompson is featured in the recently published book Ancient Gonzo Wisdom. 

Springfield is the second site he has worked on: prior to launching in Springfield, he launched one of the original three Patch sites in Maplewood, NJ.

Before working for Patch, he was a staff writer for the Hartford Advocate, a newsweekly in Connecticut.

Beliefs

Religion

• How religious would you say you are? Casual, observant, devout, non-religious?

I was raised Catholic and now attend mass at Christmas and Easter (and have actually missed a couple of those, to my Mother's chagrin).

Local Hot Button Issues

• What do you think are the two or three most important issues facing the community?

The on-going push and pull surrounding the leadership of the police department is probably the biggest. There are also related concerns about management of the fire departments and the umbrella organization the office of public safety.

• Where do you stand on each of these issues?

These are complicated issues with a lot of valid points coming from a lot of opposing sides. I don't really have a dog in the fight; I just strive to be fair.
