A similar incident occurred in October 2013. A man was walking at the corner of Boyden Avenue and Van Ness Terrace when a woman drove up and asked him for directions.

As the man approached the car, two men got out of the vehicle and demanded his cell phone and sneakers. After the robbery, both men got back in the car and all three fled toward Union on Van Ness Terrace, according to a police report.
